- 10:59pm Eastern, Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. Ticket sales close earlier, at a time your own state sets.
- How many numbers do you need to win a prize on Powerball?
- The smallest win is just the Powerball, which pays $4. There are 9 ways to win. Without the Powerball, you need three numbers at $7.
- Does matching just the Powerball win anything?
- Yes. The Powerball on its own pays $4. One white number on its own pays nothing.
- What is the Powerball jackpot actually worth?
- Less than the advertised figure. It's paid out over decades, the cash option is usually about half, and it's split if more than one ticket wins.
